So-called entrepreneurial professionals claim that the only way to be successful in business is to clearly identify your target audience.  Often times I have been thoroughly criticized by such ’experts’ for my exacting response of not having such criteria. 

I’d like to introduce those individuals to one of our favorite clients at Face to Fase — Emily.

As one of our very first patrons after our Grand Opening; I first met Emily (who we lovingly refer to as “Aunt Emmy”) two years ago.

Then, at 102 years of age; upon her full recovery of cataract surgery, she was able to see her facial wrinkles for the first time, and insisted upon doing something about it…so, her niece brought her right to us for some anti-aging skin care

She instantly fell in love with the jewelry in our boutique-style Studio and has continually been a great representation of our pieces.  In fact, she recently wore them on a very important day… 

With friends and family by her side, I was honored by an invite to help celebrate Aunt Emmy’s 104th Birthday (God Bless her!) and our Studio was the first stop on her celebratory afternoon!

Aunt Emmy is a true testament to having beauty and style at ANY age.

I have a well-known passion for makeup, but equal to that infatuation is my love for cosmetic instruction; which is why I was so excited when asked to guest-educate the future professionals at the Jersey Shore Beauty Academy!

In the Beauty Industry, trends and techniques are ever-changing.  Even those not in the field know this just from observing the latest major magazine editions; BUT, it is the professional’s job to be able to duplicate the look to satisfy their clients.

In this particular class, upon their request, we covered a number of eye makeup techniques and evaluated shade selection for various eye colors — in addition to many other tips and tricks for when they enter their field of choice… Skin – Makeup – or even entering into business for themselves with their impending expertise.

I look forward to a lasting and growing relationship with the JSBA and its eager apprentices as an instrument in their continuing education.

This coming weekend there will be characters galore for Halloween; but for stage actors like Matt, who assume the roles of many different characters, dressing-up occurs on more than just a holiday; it is a constant.

In my 10+ years as a professional Makeup Artist, I have had the pleasure of meeting countless women, and have also had the incredible opportunity to help prepare them and share in their bliss for some of the best days of their lives. 

–Proms, Weddings, Stage Performances, and so many others.

Meeting as clients, many of them through the years have grown to be great friends to which I have shared many life experiences with.  In their good times and bad; sickness and in health; — even love, loss, joys, sorrows, pregnancies and remissions.

Much like those same sacred vows that brought about our first meetings; my clients know that whatever the time, place or circumstance, I will be there whenever they need me, for any occasion.

One of these quality friends with whom I’ve had a long journey with is Cindy.

While sitting at the front desk of a past job, before I had my own location; Cindy walked-in off of the street and said “I hear there is someone here who does makeup really well” and expressed to me that she was getting married the following week.

Days later, we scheduled a trial makeup application – and it has been history ever since…

Since then, I have done Cindy’s makeup in the comfort of her own home for her Wedding, the holidays, throughout her 9 month pregnancy, for the Christening of her beautiful baby son, her first Mother’s Day, the transitioning into her new home, and everything in between – including most recently, her 2 year Wedding Anniversary this month!

As an everyday cosmetic junkie, myself, with a self-proclaimed eye makeup obsession, it was very important to me to carry a WIDE range of color in shadows, eyeliners, blush and lip products in my Vanity 101 line – including a number of double-pigmented (super vibrant) options for the extra daring, down to the most natural shades; as everyone has their own unique style and comfort zone.
